Direct from Broadway, the smash-hit musical American Idiot is coming to Atlanta’s Fox Theatre on May 1 – 4! This thrilling and oh-so-fun adaptation of punk band Green Day’s rock opera has won the hearts of audiences everywhere since opening on Broadway in 2010. The high-energy story of youth, friendship and rebellion has been compared to other Broadway hits such as Hair, Rent and Spring Awakening. The story follows three lifelong friends who must choose between following their dreams or the comfort of suburban life.

Grammy award-winning punk rock band Green Day wrote and recorded all of the music for the production including all songs from their hit album American Idiot, as well as some B-tracks and a few songs from their 2009 album 21st Century Breakdown. Lead vocalist/guitarist Billy Joe Armstrong collaborated with Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer and Spring Awakening producer Tom Hulce among other talents to bring the show to life. The production has won two Tony Awards and one Grammy Award among its 20 award nominations and grossed almost $40 million during its time at the St. James Theatre in New York City. This is the first time the show will go on tour, and we’re so excited that Atlanta is one of the stops!

There are six shows spanning four days from May 1 – 4. Thursday and Friday’s shows will both be held in the evening, while Saturday and Sunday will have both matinee and evening performances.
